Namibia Itinerary
Day 1 Windhoek
You will be met upon your arrival in Windhoek. The representative will get you on the road with your rental car and provide you with a quick briefing of your itinerary. Overnight is spent in Windhoek.
Day 2 Sossusvlei
After breakfast, drive approximately five to six hours to the Sossusvlei area. Prepare to be spellbound by the highest sand dunes in the world.
Day 3 Sossusvlei
Take scenic drives to encounter a variety of desert-adapted animals such as gemsbok, zebra, springbok, bat-eared fox, aardwolf, caracal and jackal. Also there are many optional sporting activities here.
Day 4 Swakopmund
Today you will drive to the seaside town of Swakopmund, the ideal place to relax after a few days in the desert.
Day 5 Swakopmund
Set off into the dunes between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay. Be captivated by dramatic vistas and get to know about the abundant wildlife. Furthermore, a full range of optional outdoor adventures include water, land and air activities.
Day 6 Damaraland
Head off to Damaraland, situated on the eastern side of the Skeleton Coast National Park. Wildlife such as elephant, rhino, zebra and lion live in this near-barren landscape. Don’t miss the famous ancient rock paintings and petrified forest.
Day 7 Damaraland
Activities here include Elephant/Nature drive and Twyfelfontein, Burnt Mountain and organ pipes excursion. Search for the elusive desert elephant or explore the camp on foot.
Day 8 Etosha National Park – Central outskirts
Arrive at your lodge in Ongava, set on the central outskirts of Etosha National Park. Optional activities are game drives that explore the Okaukuejo area of Etosha, night drives, bush walks, or wildlife viewing from a hide.
Day 9 Etosha National Park – Eastern outskirts
Transfer to another camp today. In addition to the Big Five, Etosha hosts a vast array of animals including some unusual species. Large herds of elephant can also be seen. Predators range from lion to black-backed jackal.
Day 10 Etosha National Park – Eastern outskirts
Explore the immense open plains of Etosha on morning and afternoon game drives. Depending on where you choose to stay, you may also be able to track desert rhino on foot or to take part in rhino research initiatives.
Day 11 Okonjima Reserve
Drive to the camp at Okonjima Reserve. Most noteworthy, the world-famous AFRICAT Foundation is here. This is a refuge for rehabilitated predators, and a haven for cheetah, leopard, spotted hyena and African wild dog, as well as several species of antelope.
Day 12 Depart
Today, your self drive safari ends. A 4 hour journey will take you back to Windhoek’s Hosea Kutako International Airport. Finally, you will drop off your vehicle and board your plane for your onward flight.
