Itinerary
Day 1 Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Your adventure begins at 6 am when you depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Make a stop at the equator for photo opportunities and lunch in Mbarara town. Continue south west where winding roads lead through tiered agricultural lands of Kigezi Highlands. We spend the night on the misty mountains of Bwindi in anticipation of our tracking adventure.

Day 2 Gorilla Tracking Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Meet with a ranger guide for a briefing about the general procedure of gorilla tracking. Proceed into the rain forest. Depending on where the troop you are tracking ended their previous night, your trek could take up to several hours. Tracking the gentle mountain gorilla is rated as one of Africa’s best wildlife watching opportunities. Other mammals in the vicinity include the rare golden monkey, buffalo, elephant, black-fronted duiker, bushbuck, leopard, and giant forest hog. Ornithologists treasure the diversity of birdlife that Bwindi supports. Return to camp to relish in your memories.

Day 3 Golden Monkeys Trek – Lake Bunyonyi
Today offers a a unique experience with the rare Golden Monkeys. Depart at 6:00 am with a packed lunch and transfer to Mgahinga Forest National Park. The drive takes 2 – 3 hours. This 33 sq kms National Park is an extension of the Great Virunga Conservation Area. Mgahinga is the only park in Uganda where Golden Monkeys have a natural habitat. Spotting these brightly coloured monkeys is a privilege and tracking them is less strenuous than the Mountain Gorillas since they do not build new nests and move every night. After this exhilarating experience with golden monkeys, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and settle in at your lodge.

Day 4 Lake Bunyonyi
Take a dug-out canoe ride to an island and bask in the beauty of the terraced farm lands surrounding the lake. Visit a Batwa (previously known as pygmie) community. Discover the enchanting bird-life back at your lodge with some rest and relaxation.

Day 5 Depart
Enjoy a scenic and leisurely ride back to Kampala or Entebbe. Take a rest stop at Igongo Cultural Centre. Arrive late afternoon in time for an evening flight out, if needed.
