Day 1 – Kolkata
Upon arrival at Kolkata airport you will be and chauffeured to your classic Victorian hotel.
Day 2 – Kolkata
Start your day on a walking tour to the city’s vibrant flower market, synagogues and Dalhousie Square. Next, take in the Victoria Memorial, followed by a stop at the Jaggu Bazaar. Embark on a boat cruise up the river Hoogly with a ring-side view of the river’s ‘Ghats’.
Day 3 – Kolkata
Today’s tour takes you to Calcutta Jain Temples. It is a complex of 4 ornate temples. Proceed to The Marble Palace and the Bengal quarter. Explore a unique artisan village dating back 400 years. See where Mother Theresa did her work.
Day 4 – Varanasi
Catch flight to Varanasi. It’s unique culture is associated to the river Ganges, where life and death intermingle. Subsequently, a sunset boat ride in the evening on the river will introduce you to the magical sight of the ganga aarti ceremony.
Day 5 – Varanasi
Arise early for yoga demonstration and a boat ride downstream in the early morning light. Witness the cycle of life on the ghats (steps) of The Ganges. Take a excursion to Sarnath. The site houses stupas, sculptures and monasteries.
Day 6 – Rishikesh
Depart on a flight to Dehradun followed by road transfer to Taj Rishikesh. The resort sits on the banks of the Ganges in the foothills of the Himalayas. Enjoy the spa, yoga classes and swimming pool in addition to local organic food.
Day 7 – Rishikesh
Experience one hour of yoga each morning as well as each evening, with a private instructor. You may wish to opt for some spa treatments while here as well.
Day 8 – Rishikesh
Today we will take a day trip to the town of Rishikesh. Home to many ashrams offering spiritual learning, yoga and meditation, it is also known as The Yoga Capital of the World. Later, delight in a sunset Ganga Aarti display.
Day 9 – Delhi
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Delhi and your 5 star hotel, The Imperial. An excursion at Sikh Gurudwara allows you to participate in the Langar kitchen service, feeding the poor and needy.
Day 10 – Delhi
Start your day with Humayun’s Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Pass other monuments including India Gate, a stone arch of triumph, and famous Jama Masjid, holding 25,000 devotees. Zip through the streets of Chandni Chowk in a rickshaw. Sample the spice market and high tea.
Finally, late evening, transfer to the International Airport for your flight back home. You will have use of your hotel room until it is time for your departure to the airport. If needed, it is at your disposal until the next morning at normal check-out time.
Day 11 – Depart
In case you have no flight to catch during the early morning hours, you will have access to your room until 12:00 noon. Subsequently, an airport transfer is provided.
