Tarangire Safari – TTS2
This Tarangire Safari itinerary will have you marveling at the huge herds of herbivores as well as abundant carnivores and birdlife. Look out for tree-climbing lions and stand in awe at the ancient baobab trees in Tarangire National Park, Tanzania. The Tarangire River is the primary source of water for wildlife in the park, thereby attracting a deluge of animals.
Tarangire Safari Itinerary
Day 1 Tarangire National Park
Pickup in Arusha with lunch. Proceed to Tarangire where you will discover baobab trees and perhaps tree-climbing lions. Count the bird species and the migratory herds as well as resident wildlife.

Day 2 Depart
Enjoy a morning game drive in Tarangire National Park. The park is known for its large herds of buffalo, as well as tree-climbing lions. This is one of Africa’s little-known gems and should be on the itinerary of all lovers of wilderness and solitude.
The game numbers are staggering: 30,000 zebra, 25,000 wildebeest, 5,000 buffalo, 3,000 elephant, 2,500 Maasai giraffe and over 1,000 fringe-eared oryx (gemsbok). Predators include lion, cheetah and leopard. Birders will want to watch for the endemic ashy starling, rufous-tailed weaver and black-collared lovebird. Enjoy lunch at the lodge, followed by transfer back to Arusha town.
