Kenya Wildlife Safari – KO8

This Kenya Wildlife Safari includes Nairobi, and the National Parks of Aberdare, Samburu, Nakuru, and Masai Mara. Witness spectacular wildlife displays, search for elusive leopards, and discover prides of hunting lions. Seek out Africa’s big five – lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino. Experience East Africa’s premier travel destination from forests and lakes to the wild African savannah on this safari. 8 days Nairobi to Nairobi.

Itinerary

Day 1 Nairobi You will be met at the Nairobi International Airport and transferred to your hotel for overnight stay and preparation for your Kenya Safari.

Day 2 Aberdare National Park
Depart Nairobi for Aberdare National Park. Lunch is served at Aberdare Country Club in Nyeri upon arrival before transferring to The Ark Tree Hotel. The high altitude, up to 4000 meters, makes the park different from the typical savannah of most Kenyan parks and creates a cool alternative to the traveller.  The forest provides a habitat for elephants, black rhinos, leopards, spotted hyenas, warthogs, bushbuck, waterbuck, buffalo and the giant forest hog among others.  A whole evening, or even throughout the night, game viewing is possible from the deck of your lodge.

Day 3 Samburu National Reserve
Drive back to Aberdare Country Club after breakfast. From there, proceed to Samburu National Reserve. Samburu lies in a vast area of semi-desert and desert.  We will enjoy lunch at the lodge upon arrival. Carry on for a game drive seeking the most unusual fauna of all East Africa’s major savannah reserves.  Seek out Grevy’s zebra, Gerenuk giraffe and Reticulated Giraffe. Catch a glimpse of lions, cheetah, leopard, and abundant birdlife.

Day 4 Samburu National Reserve
Tea is served before your early morning game drive. Delight in observing morning routines of the spectacular wildlife. Return to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation. The game park’s permanent water supply attracts a wide variety of species. Crocodiles are a common site along the rivers, and this park is where you are more likely to see a leopard than anywhere else in Kenya. The park offers excellent bird-watching opportunities for the bird lover.

Day 5 Lake Nakuru National Park
An early tea or coffee sets you up for a morning game drive.  We will return to the lodge where breakfast awaits.  Continue to Lake Nakuru, one of the Rift Valleys’  soda lakes. The lake has an myriad of blue-green algae, attracting greater and lesser flamingoes and other birdlife.  You may spot resident rhinos as you enjoy your afternoon game drive. Look up in the trees for leopards as well.

Day 6 Masai Mara National Reserve
Continue your wildlife safari as you leave Nakuru for the most abundant game park in East Africa, The Masai Mara. Lunch is served upon your arrival. The Great Wildebeest Migration occurs here every year.  Besides the numerous zebras and wildebeests, the park hosts plenty of other wildlife. Rhino, giraffe, topi, elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, jackals, hyena, hippo and much more reside in the park.   Spot Masai people grazing and living on the edge of the reserve. They enjoy a peaceful co-existence with the wildlife.  Enjoy a 2 hr game drive in the Mara and then back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7 Masai Mara National Reserve
Arise early in order to observe the wildlife morning routines. Circle back to the lodge for breakfast and leisure time.  Options are to relax by the pool, visit the gift shop practice your photography around the lodge prior to an afternoon game drive. Look out for the big five as you traverse the savannah. Keep your eyes open for big cats hunting the plethora of prey.

Day 8 Depart
Leave Masai Mara for the drive back to Nairobi. Lunch will be served at the famous Carnivore Restaurant before your transfer to the airport. Finally, this is the end of your Kenya Wildlife Safari.
