Stretching over 300 kilometres in length and covering an area of 5000 square km, the man-made Lake Kariba, is a veritable inland sea located on the mighty Zambezi River. Flanked on all sides by pristine nature reserves, this exceptional water mass is a flourishing diversity of game, fish and birdlife. Sit quietly and observe the animals coming down to drink from the Hide’s Hide. This is one of the best ways to get exceptionally close to animals. Be adventurous and book an optional sporting activity at Victoria Falls like white water rafting, bungee or canoeing.
Itinerary
Day 1 Lake Kariba, Changa Safari Camp
On your arrival at Victoria Falls International Airport, you will be assisted to your light aircraft transfer to Lake Kariba followed by a boat transfer to Changa Safari Camp.
Situated on the southern shores of Lake Kariba, Matusadona National Park is a place of remarkable beauty, where scenic landscapes range from flat plains to rugged mountains. Remote and isolated, the park receives fewer tourist numbers and provides an exclusive game viewing experience. It is particularly well known for its large herds of buffalo, some of which number over a thousand individuals, which congregate along the shoreline in the dry season. Other frequently encountered wildlife includes elephant and hippo, as well as waterbuck, sable and roan antelope. The reserve is also rich in birdlife, with many species of herons, storks, plovers, bee-eaters and geese, as well as the ubiquitous fish eagle, inhabiting the river banks.

Day 2 Lake Kariba, Changa Safari Camp
Relax as you take in the views from your tastefully furnished, spacious deluxe tent. Each suite has its own private deck with magnificent views of the Matusadona Mountains and vast Lake Kariba. Your stay includes all meals, teas/coffee, local drinks, house wines, and up to three activities per day. Adventures include game drives, walking and fishing safaris, birdwatching and boating.

Day 3 Bumi Hills Safari Camp
This morning you will be transferred by boat to Bumi Hills Safari Camp, overlooking Lake Kariba from a hilltop. Many a memorable moment can be shared on the lake from fishing for the powerful tiger fish, as the sun displays its final colours before melting into the horizon, to game viewing by boat or on an interpretive guided walking safari.

Days 4 and 5 Bumi Hills Safari Camp
Accommodation is in a premium room with a lovely ensuite bathroom and a private veranda that boasts wonderful views of the lake. Your stay includes all meals, and teas/coffees, soft drinks, local beers and spirits, along with local wines. Choose from two activities per day – game viewing in open 4×4 safari vehicles, on foot accompanied by a professional guide and by boat, sunset cruises, bird watching, fishing and hide sits (one of the best ways to view wildlife).

Day 6 Hwange National Park
Today transfer by light aircraft transfer to Hwange. Accommodation is in a classic tent. Enjoy a game drive while driving to The Hide Safari Camp. Adventures include twice-daily game drives, guided bush walks and exceptional game viewing in the seclusion of the camp’s hides.

Day 7 Hwange National Park
Your stay includes three meals daily, teas & coffees, local drinks, house wines, and up to four activities per day. The elephant stronghold of Hwange, Zimbabwe’s largest national park is a game-rich area. Explore a variety of landscapes, from desert sands and sparse woodland to grasslands and rocky outcrops. Vast herds of elephant and buffalo, gemsbok and packs of brown hyena can be found in this pristine slice of wilderness, as can one of the largest surviving populations of wild dog.

Day 8 Victoria Falls
Transfer by road to Victoria Falls River Lodge, approximately three hours’ drive, to continue your Wildlife Safari Zimbabwe. Boasting panoramic views of African sunsets, spacious luxury tents are set right on banks of the mighty Zambezi. Your stay includes meals, local beverages, high tea, optional daily transfer from camp (at 10h00 and 14h00 respectively) to Victoria Falls Town and two scheduled activities per day.
Adventures include two game activities per person per day (a choice of either a morning / afternoon game drive in the Zambezi National Park, or a sunrise / sunset river cruise); snacks and drinks will be included on the game drive or river cruise. Additional activities include birdwatching on Kandahar Island as well as access to the Tree Hide.

Day 9 Victoria Falls
Zambezi National Park stretches along the banks of the Zambezi River. Apart from the famous Big Five, this scenic reserve is home to herds of elegant sable antelope, as well as eland, zebra, giraffe, kudu and waterbuck, while the river is inhabited by plenty of hippo and crocodile. The birdlife in the riverine thickets is plentiful, with egrets, herons, cormorants, fish eagles and kingfishers found among the lala palms on the river banks. The Zambezi is also a fisherman’s paradise, with its legendary fighting tiger fish, tilapia bream and giant vundu, or catfish.

Day 10 Depart
After breakfast, you will be transferred by road back to Victoria Falls International Airport for your outbound flight. This marks the end of your Wildlife Safari Zimbabwe.

Optional Flight of Angels over Victoria Falls
Take an unforgettable helicopter flip over the Victoria Falls. The legendary “Flight of Angels” provides spectacular photographic opportunities on a 13 minute or a 25 minute flight that also incorporates a spot of game viewing. Departure is from the Victoria Falls Day Activity Centre and between 08h00 and 18h00. Guests must be at the Helipad 30 minutes before their booked departure time.
