Itinerary
Day 1 Puerto Lopez Village
Setting out from Guayaquil, we cross the arid savannah of Santa Elena Peninsula to reach the Pacific coast. Passing through several fishing villages, we will see beautiful beaches, rainforests and artisan villages. In the afternoon we arrive at the small fishing town of Puerto Lopez.

Day 2 Puerto Lopez Village
Following breakfast is a full day boat tour to Isla de la Plata. Explore this reserve together with a local naturalist guide. Depending on the season, there are blue-footed, red-footed and masked boobies, albatrosses and frigate birds. It is also an ideal place for swimming and snorkeling, with a good chance to see sea turtles. From mid-June to the end of September you may also watch humpback whales, an impressive natural spectacle.

Day 3 Guayaquil
Today we visit the Agua Blanca community located in the coastal Machalilla National Park and learn about their customs and traditions. After a typical lunch, we continue to Los Frailes, one of the most beautiful beaches in the country, known for its clear waters and stunning scenery. In the afternoon, we return to Guayaquil.

Day 4 Guayaquil
Today we will visit the Manglares Churute Natural Reserve, (Churute Mangroves), one of the finest and most diverse protected areas of the tropical lowlands of Ecuador, definitely a must for nature lovers. You will take a scenic boat ride through the best preserved mangrove forests throughout the Ecuadorian Pacific Coast. Watch a variety of bird species: egrets, herons, ibises, cormorants, pelicans, roseate spoonbills, kingfishers and many more. At low tide you can observe how locals collect the red mangrove crabs. Afterwards you may take a short hike through the tropical dry forest of the reserve where there is a good chance to see howler monkeys. Before returning to Guayaquil, we may visit a small farm where you can learn about the growing and marketing of the famous Ecuadorian cacao.
