Choose from 2 volunteer sites on Ecuador Volunteer programs in beautiful Cuenca. Assist with teaching at a special needs school, or work in a home for babies and toddlers. The special school educates the kids in academic subjects as well as many forms of art, music, media, and even baking. Fill your heart with warm memories of your experience.
The city of Cuenca is located in the highlands of Ecuador. A UNESCO city, it sits at about 2,500 metres (8,200 feet) above sea level. They have a population of approximately 580,000 inhabitants in the larger metropolitan area. Cuenca is approximately nine hours south of Quito and four hours east of Guayaquil.
Arrive today at Cuenca Airport. A driver will meet you to transfer you to your accommodations. If you are arriving by bus or another means, we can meet you elsewhere.
Today you will enjoy a walking tour in the World Heritage Unesco old city of Cuenca. Meet with a representative from the charity you will be working for and have an orientation. Hours of work are normally Monday through Friday. You will have plenty of time to visit churches, markets and other interesting sites in the city.
Days 3 – 7
Proceed to the work site to begin work for the week. Visit a market to shop or take some time off to visit nearby Cajas National Park or Ingapirca Ruins. You can add on optional Spanish lessons in the afternoons if you wish. Or, try your hand at salsa dancing or Ecuadorian cooking classes.
Finally, today your volunteering in Cuenca has come to an end. You will be returned to the airport for onward travel.
